The Castilian neighborhood of Algarinejo was built with the arrival of the new settlers, between the 16th and 18th centuries, following a more rational pattern, with wide, grid-like streets arranged around a central square. Next to the typical farmhouses, there are manor houses from the 18th-19th centuries, which present significant formal differences with the houses in the Nasrid neighborhood: wider and more openings on the façades, a highly regular layout, larger volume of the houses, and porticoed interior patios.

These buildings also have large basements and vaulted cellars, used for storing and preserving food. Notable examples of these constructions are found on Calle Alta -with an underground cellar-, on Calle Sánchez Cuesta and on Calle Angustias. The construction of manor houses is a reflection of the economic prosperity experienced by Algarinejo in the 17th and 18th centuries, driven by the mercantile aristocracy.
