Prehistory

It is probable that the lands of Algarinejo have been inhabited since the Lower Paleolithic, approximately 400,000 years ago, according to the archaeological remains found at the end of the lznájar reservoir. They were nomadic hunters and gatherers, who lived in caves and open-air areas, in places rich in flint and silvo-forest resources. Subsequently, Chalcolithic settlements such as Tajo de la Villa Vieja and Cerro del Almendral were located. Metallurgy is also of great interest due to the existence of copper veins (which contain copper)..
